Rio Riot:
Big Music for Big Pockets
In the
world of digital music, yet another advancement in portable mp3 players has been
made. Sonic blue has come out with a portable mp3 player with a 20 gig hard
drive. It holds about 5000 4 minute long songs in the mp3 format which
translates to about 250 80 minute cd’s which is about $4000 worth of digital
music, actually it would be about a thousand dollars more since most
manufactured CDs last around 60 minutes. This Mp3 player the “Rio Riot” is
5.4-by-3.6-by-1.4-inchs and weighs 10-ounces. It has a 10 hr rechargeable
battery and produces good quality sound. It is a little big for a pocket, and
cost $400 but it can contain most people’s mp3 and CD librarys several times
over. (I have maybe 5 gigs of music to my name) It still has a few bugs in it
but such as locking up if going through the menu too fast and having the “back”
button disappearing occasionally. Other then that it works fine. So if one does
not mind lugging it around and occasionally having to reset it, it is a great
way to store and listen to music on the run.
