Macromedia Director 8.5 Shockwave Studio is a program that creates interactive

multimedia programs for the web. Director incorporates Flash animations, sounds,

text, video, into 2d and 3d environments and then steams them over the internet.

This is perfect for those who want to make and put simple games on their website

or make e-tours, or interactive displays for their products. Once made the program

is made it can be put onto different media devices such as the internet, CDs, DVDs,

zip disk, floppy disk, whatever the user needs. It can be seen over any amount of

Internet bandwidth (if the consumer is reasonably patient) so it is great for those

who wish it to be seen by everybody over the World Wide Web (a free

shockwave player needs to be downloaded first though). In short it makes

complex multimedia interaction programs small and web friendly.

I have seen Shockwave programs in action and I must say the program

its concept are very slick. Because it is relatively affordable and web friendly,

there are some people out there who do some goofy things with it just for the novelty,

such as the stress relief fish tank where when you press buttons, an animated cartoon

goldfish has morbid things happen to it (such as electrocution). I would not mind

owning a copy so I could make my own interactive programs like that but it is

more then I can afford in time and money.
