Computer Orgainization Hands-On Project: 10 points

Each student will compile a checklist for a scenario featuring acquisition and assembly of Desktop hardware.

Hardware installation processes

Steps to Include the following:

1. Run a configuration on the system to confirm all the subsystems.(note what to expect)
2. Tear down the computers in Lab so that all card information can be documented.
3. Some of these cards may need drivers off the Internet. Disk, CD/ROM systems are also to be extracted.
4. Get a digital camera(media center) and document the cards and settings.
5. Assemble cards in case and connect all cables. Restart the machine and confirm all is working.
6. Compose your report to include items you found and any unexpected deverlopments.
7. Post to your website.

1. Install the OS and configure the hard disk.
2. Install the Windows software
3. Run any diagnostics.

Checklist should document each subsystem in the machine as to manufacturer,

serial number and any other information you can find.

These are fairly old systems so you may have to do some searching on the net.
