Capital One

 

Capital One is trying to utilize all of their information they have on their clients to best serve them and attract and keep business.  They are trying to cater to their customers so when they call in they talk to some one that would have something in common with the customer.  Capital One can do this by using IBC or Information Based Strategy.  First come up with a product, two find a target market, and three find the people in the target market.  This technology is very effective but very expensive.

           

  1. How does Capital One use the information technology to give them a competitive advantage among the credit card companies?

 

Capital One first goes the extra mile and that is not cheap.  They use our information what we like and what we buy to customize our service.  If I get online to their website and all of the sudden all of these pop ups come up of stuff I like and I buy  that will make it a good experience for me and the company.  Or get e-mailed about a new card that would benefit me when I buy the stuff I like.  This is great service no other credit card company does that.

  1. Can other companies apply the concepts and methods used by Capital One with out the hundreds of millions of dollars they have? 

     

      Yes, maybe not to the extent of Capital One but the same concepts.  Ford does this             my family and I have only bought ford cars and whenever there is a special deal Ford    sends us something.  Then the dealership calls us to tell us.  They are doing the same thing but do not take a whole new system.  All the companies on the web know require an e-mail address for a transaction to go through so they can e-mail you with specials and with new products.

  1. Visit the Capital One website amd evaluate the business and customer value of its contents.  How would you rate its effectiveness as an e-commerce website?  Explain your ratings? 

 

It is a great site you have I think just about everything any one could want.  I rate it a 9 out of ten because it is easy to understand the different categories and it is pulled together in a very business like way.  I would have no problem going on the site to go get a loan or a new credit card.

 

 

Capital One is doing a fantastic job with it new technology it is trying to develop.  I would say not to stop short develop the technology to its full potential.
