Computer Systems at McMurry

McMurry University has a number of computer systems that serve different purposes. Students typically have accounts on two to three servers (McMurryadm, mail.mcm.edu, bb.mcm.edu) while faculty have accounts on at least four. This guide should help you keep them straight.

For the examples in this discussion assume your name is Firstname, Lastname

This machine is both mail.mcm.edu and www.mcm.edu Maintained by Computer Services (Cooke 103, extension 4900).

CS1

CS1.mcm.edu is the Computer Science department server. It is generally similar to mail/www but has more facilities for software development. Accounts are available by request and generated automatically for Computer Science classes.

Standard student email. Access via http://students.mcm.edu/exchange/or http://bajor.mcm.edu/exchange/ Uses your standard Windows password.

mcmurryadm.mcm.edu

This is the authentication server for student and faculty accounts. It is also the email server for most faculty with addresses of the form: lastnamf@mcmurryadm.mcm.edu except newer faculty who have adddresses of the form lastname.firstname

This is probably the most reliable email address for random faculty and staff.

moodle.mcm.edu

McMurry Moodle class support system. Authorized students/faculty only. This system is used for online teaching.
