[HOME] SMAB Sponsored Student Trip to UT Southwester Medical Center November 22, 2002 Dr. Arlen Jeffery and Dr. Brian Waters with five students (Sonia Cano, Bret Erdmann, Erin Holmes, Zana Muhaxhiri, and Sara Urbaniak) traveled to UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas on November, 22, 2002.  The Science Teacher’s Access to Resources at Southwestern (STARS) program made all of the scheduling arrangements. The faculty and students toured both the medical and graduate school facilities.  During the afternoon, the group was treated to a tour of the biotech facilities on the North campus and Dr. Skip Garners’ research. Four research active scientist and two programs administrators made presentations to the students throughout the day. The visit was very productive as the students were exposed to applications from medicine, chemistry, biochemistry, biology, physics and biotechnology.  Max Wynn and Elaine Harmon served as duel host and hostess for the students. Thanks to all the students and the faculty at McMurry for showing such interest in medical and graduate school education.
