SMAB Sponsored Student Trip to NASA
Johnson Space Center Houston
April 2001 |
Trip led by Dr. Bud Sanders, coordinated by John Manning.

The NASA trip was a great success! I believe that the students enjoyed
it very much. Perhaps, the best thing from my perspective is that several
of the students that went were first or second year students and even
though all the students got to see "real science" in action,
these students are now primed to finish their undergraduate collegiate
careers with the benefit of this exposure and the natural excitement
that came with it.
We certainly do appreciate your work and the support of the SMAB in engaging
in a great opportunity to enrich and direct the education of these students.
The host families in Houston took good care of the students and were superb in
their generosity.
Photos include a photo of the group at Ellington field with Donn Sickorez (kneeling,
front row), University Affairs Officer, who showed us the KC-135, etc. One of
the students is taking the photo.
We would certainly be interested in continuing to get students involved with
science research/exposure. Now, I can't seem to get the phrase "Mars is
next..." out of my mind. |
